Traffic engineering is a key ingredient in both municipal and private development planning. It is the process of assessing traffic impacts and then planning the physical and operational improvements required to maintain satisfactory traffic flow.
Frederick P. Clark Associates, Inc. began offering professional services in the transportation field in 1978. Since then, it has completed over 500 projects, ranging from small to very large (over one million square feet), and including a wide variety of retail, office, industrial, public and residential uses.
Typically, the traffic engineering staff works as a team with the firm's environmental and planning professionals in coordination with clients and other consultants. Involvement normally begins with an analysis of existing traffic and roadway conditions, followed by detailed access and impact studies, and concluding with the governmental approval process. The firm has established effective relationships with governmental entities responsible for project reviews. Analytical techniques used are of the type found most acceptable to these reviewing agencies.
Assignments for municipal clients often involve community-wide or special area traffic and parking studies, as well as the review of project proposals and environmental impact statements submitted for approval by developers.
